Thesis Statement
On September 1, 1894 the town of Hinckley, Minnesota was consumed by a large, fast moving wildfire killing over 400 people. Weather played a role in the fire, but it was the logging practice of leaving behind slashings that provided the fuel for this tornado of fire. This fire became a turning point because it would lead to the creation of laws which changed logging practices and the conservation of forest resources.
